During the spring of 2017, I was happy to find a bird’s nest in a tree that was close enough to the ground I could photograph the process of a momma bird raising her young. Originally, the nest belonged to a Mourning dove but I may have scared her by poking a camera into what she thought was a secluded spot. Mind you, I use a long lens and try to disturb the creatures I am photographing as little as possible. Especially since I wanted a series of shots over a long period of time. So, I guess I spooked momma dove.

However, the nest was soon taken over by a pair of robins.

Mrs. Robin enlarged and improved the nest started by the dove and moved in to stay.

Momma robin, although wary of me, allowed me to photgraph her up close.

The angles on the nest from my vantage point did not allow me to see the eggs she laid, but when they hatched I did get to see at least 3 babies in the nest. Hopefully, I will get more photos of these as they grow and fledge. Stay tuned.
